Third point was very humbling 🤍 how precious is the human body and what it’s capable of! 💪🏻 watching your father’s body lose its functions and strength would have been so difficult. I’m just so sorry 😢
Thank you so much Heidi! It’s definitely still a work in progress for me — those ingrained judgments run deep, especially for women and mums. But my experience with Dad was a real wake up call to start appreciating my body instead of judging it or taking it for granted. I’m so glad to hear this resonated with you 🙏🏼✨
I always appreciate essays that point us toward the big picture of life and emphasize universal themes we can all relate to as humans. I loved the idea that grief brings sorrow absolutely, but I also can bring clarity as well.
My favorite paragraph was the section on embracing your body, as is, and loving it for its abilities, functions, etc. As a mama, yep, my body has changed A LOT the past few years and that can be REALLY hard! I appreciate you bravely putting words to that hard thing. 💜
Those are my favourite kinds of essays too, so it really means a lot that this one resonated with you. The section on body image was the toughest to write — it felt like exposing one of my deepest insecurities. But I know I’m not the only one who feels this way, and it’s such an important conversation to have. Thanks Breeann 🫶
