Great write-up, Ruhie! I enjoyed your thoughts on this. Always good to experiment, and the explosive growth does sound super tempting, especially when you have an important story to tell.

Thank you Tiffany! I really appreciate this. I've come to realise experimenting is fine - fun and fruitful, even - as long as I don't lose sight of why I started doing this in the first place and at what cost...

What beautiful videos of your Dad and his love and dedication to you. I can see your bond and understand your heartbreak. What a gift to have had such a tremendous supporter. Love to you. (My Dad died of dementia 10 years ago. He was my biggest supporter.)

Thank you for your kind words, Kristina 💛 My dad and I were very close, similar in so many ways, and as you picked up on, he was my biggest supporter. I'm deeply sorry for the loss of your dad, and in such a heartbreaking way. No matter how much time passes, we miss that person who had always been our champion and cheerleader.

Yes. I think about him almost every day. We are lucky to have had a Dad like this.

Thanks for the post. I was on tik Tok a few years ago but left because of privacy concerns. I found some of my videos got a decent amount of views for me but others stayed at 4 or something ridiculous. I'm staying away from social media in general. I've been on substack for over a year and have under a hundred subscribers.

This really resonates with me, Sheyvah! The lack of consistency and predictability can be incredibly frustrating. I still have no idea why some of my videos have gone 'viral', while others get very few views. I'm curious what your concerns were when it came to privacy? This is a big one for me that I'm still trying to wrap my head around. Kudos to you for being able to avoid the temptation of social media! I'm curious have you noticed this move has impacted your a) wellbeing and b) writing?

This was a great deep dive! Thanks for writing it. I find myself just flat out intimidated by platforms I’ve never tried, TikTok being one of them. I tend to stick to Facebook and Substack with a smidge of Instagram since that’s what I’ve always known. Way to put yourself out there! And your dad sounds so magical and full of love. 💕

Thanks Breeann! I’ve always been adamant I’d never join TikTok unlike most millennials haha. But I couldn’t resist the temptation! I have to say it can be quite exhilarating but overwhelming too. Thanks so much for reading and for your kind words about my dad 🙏🏼✨
